8 years after their first show in Malta, Rotting Christ are back! Yes, that’s right. The legendary Greek Black Metal Gods will be back to rock Malta once again on the 20th of September thanks to Metall Insula.

For those who don’t know (…and if you’re a metalhead, you have no excuses), Rotting Christ was formed back in 1987 by brothers Sakis and Themis Tolis and are the pioneers of the Greek black metal sound. Throughout these 25 years they played in mostly every major metal festival and an endless list of shows, sharing the stage with the likes of Deicide, Nile and Behemoth to name a few. In March they released their latest album, Kata ton Daimona Eaytoy via Season of Mist.

On the 20th of September they’re going to hit the stage at the Serjeant’s Mess (Old Military Prison in Corradino, Paola) and are supported by Carnivorous Horde and local heavy weights, Beheaded. We caught up with Frank from Beheaded who had this to say :

Rotting Christ is by it’s own account a legendary band who’s integrity cannot be questioned. The thing that strikes me the most about RC is the passion and honesty which the band members put into their music. This is something which did strike me when I had put on the show in Malta a few years back which also featured SLIT and Martyrium. Some might remember the problems we had with authorities to make the show happen but we did and it was one of the most memorable underground shows in Malta. Moreover I was even more impressed when we crossed paths with RC again in 2010 when Beheaded and RC were on the same bill at Neurotic Deathfest in NL. RC was playing to a relatively small crowd in the middle stage while headliners Bolt Thrower was on Main Stage. The passion and humility by which they delivered a commanding show that day left me speechless and strengthened my respect towards them. It is always an honour to share the stage with a band that has carried high and proudly the flag of extreme music for decades. Once again welcome to Malta brothers !

Cheers Frank. Always a pleasure.

We will also be catching up with Rotting Christ before the show for an exclusive interview, so keep an eye out for that one.

…till then… Horns Up \m/
